I found some information I thought would be quite helpful to the Koen researchers in Middle Tennessee. Although I am not a Koen descendant, I feel strongly that my Jarvis Jones from Davidson County, Tennessee has strong connections to the Koens. In searching my Jarvis Jones, I find other Jarvis Jones' back in Pasquotank Co., NC. In these records, Jarvis Jones Sr was a Captain of a 1766 Militia Regiment where Jarvis Jones, Jr. was Lieutenant, Caleb Coen, Ensign, and Daniel Coen, Private. I have a Deed in Davidson County, Tn in 1805 where my Jarvis Jones bought land from David Koen. In Volume G, Page 297 of the Deed Records of Davidson County, there is a very important Deed for you Koen descendants. I will only fill in pertinent parts of it. This indenture made this 25th day of June 1803 between Benjamin Koen, Daniel Koen and Lemuel Koen or Robertson County and Deliverance Gray, John B. Jackson and Vincent Cartwright of Davidson County, all of the state of Tennessee and heirs of Reuben Koen, deceased of the one part and David Koen of the state aforesaid and County of Davidson of the other part... for $500 to them in hand paid...convey 197 acres formerly the property of Reuben Koen, Deceased, lying and being in Davidson County on both sides of the Big Harpeth River. Daniel Koen and John B. Jackson signed their names, while the other signed by a mark. (Benjamin did sign this deed) Witnesses to the deed were John Davis, Nancy Dupres, David Davis and Jarvis Jones.John David and Jarvis Jones gave testimony that they saw this deed executed. There is another deed similar to it in Volume G, Page 375, where Benjamin signed and Lemuel signed also, where as before he signed by his mark. In Book K, Page 696 of the Deed Records of Davidson County, Jarvis Jones of Williamson County sold some land to the Heirs of Vincent Cartwright. (1815) Below are a list of Davidson County, Tennessee marriages. They came from a book so there are possible errors. Samuel Koen could be Lemuel Koen. You will also note that Deliverance Gray's bride is Parmer Halstead. It is possible that he married again or that Parmar was previously married. Deliverance Gray to Parmer Halstead 29 Jun 1791 David Koen to Patsy Winstead 21 Sep 1800 Samuel Koen to Lelia Hooper 21 Feb 1801* John Jackson to Lovie Koen 21 Feb 1801* a double wedding? Daniel Koen to Rachel Jackson 16 Sep 1801 Vincent Cartwright to Thone Koen 07 Sep 1802 2 later marriages in the county were Samuel Gower to Celia Koen 30 Jan 1807 Joshua Davis to Polly Koen 30 Sep 1818 Hope this helps!
