Luzerne Co, Pa Kochers
Jacob S. Kocher (1825-1896) and his wife, Amy Compton in 1870 census of Lehman have living with them, in addition to their own children (whose ages range from 19 yrs to 6 months), William Montaney, b 11/1869 (luckily, this date is shown on the 1870 census) and Sarah E. Montaney, b 1867. Kocher's daughter, Sarah is 19 and also living with her parents. By 1880, Sarah is married to Charles Daniels (1850-bef 1895) and her oldest child, William Daniels shows a birthdate on the 1900 census of Plymouth of Nov 1869. There is no further sighting of Sarah E. Montaney. Sarah Kocher marries Wm. Turnbull about 1895, after the death of Charles Andrews. I'm wondering if William Montaney/William Daniels are one and the same, and if Sarah was married to a Montaney
who died before 1870, or possibly was not married to him at all, but rather, he was the father of the children, and when she married Andrews, William took his step-father's name? Anyone have any thoughts on this puzzle? Would appreciate any clues.
