I am writing this letter to know about a relative of mine.

My grandfather emigrated to Uruguay in 1927 (14/11/1927) and his brother
emigrated to
North America.

I do not know anything of my grandfather?s family because he died when my
father was a child.

My grandfather?s name is ANTON KOCHAN ( son of Piotr Kochan and Julia
Mniszka ) who was born in KORKIW Comuna of SOKAL - GALITZIA on 14th
September 1900. ( Ucrania now near Poland?s border).

The only document I have got from him notifics that the Passport Suplem No
80 was dispatched by the Official Milatary Headquarters of Mecklenburg
Schwering District-Germany.

I look forward to hearing from you soon,

Yours faithully,

Eduardo Kochan.

PS.: What do you know about of the origin of the surname Kochan?
I think because of the surname Kochan is the Polish surname, is
classified as being of nickname origin (which is also found in
Czechoslovakia). Kochan is dirived from
Polish term " Kochanek" which means " darling or dear " which is turn
derived from the verb "Kochac" which literally means "to love" variants of
the surname Kochan incluide the fo llowing names:Kochanek, Kochaniak,
Kochanski, Kochanowicz, Kochanowski and Koczan. Our common surname and its
variants are associated whith the Korwin, Rola, Oganczyr and Lubicz clans,
but Shai Kochan (Who lives in Israel) think because of the surname Kochan
dirived from Kochen and Kochen dirived from Cohen.

Eduardo Kochan.
