Frank Kobe 1852?-1938

I have a Frank Kobe born June 1852 in NY, both parents born in Germany? (info taken from 1900 Berrien County, MI cenus)

He married a Gadora or Dora last name possibly Gordon, but seen her in the 1870 MI census w/ her mother Harriet (nee Defield) and John Duart. Dora died 6/5/1890 and is burried in Round Lake Cemetery in Mears, MI.

Frank & Dora had Hettie b. 6/1878 & John b. 9/1881 both in M1. Hettie married twice...m1 Henry Wright, m2. Melvin Phillips.

John married a Cathrine or Kathrine. He was a justice of the peace & a milkman in Bridgman, MI sometime in the 1930's. They had 2 daughters, Victoria & Carol. Carol was a school teacher in Grand Rapids, MI. They also had a son named Gene who owned a bakery, we think in Indiana.

Frank died in 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI at the home of his sister-in-law, Blanche Wheeler. He is burried with his wife Dora, in Round Lake Cemetery in Mears, MI. There is also a Junle? burried inbetween Frank & Dora Kobe at the cemetery. D.O.D. is 1/5/1889 and she is listed as their daughter.

Shortly before Frank moved in with his sister-in-law, he had lived with Rose & Art Saint Clair (sp?)in Grand Rapids, MI. who owned a jewlery store. Rose & Art are somehow related to Frank.

Frank Kobe had a sister named Mae who married a Fred McManamy. After her husband died, Mae had gone out to Portland, Oregon to live out the rest of her years with her sister. No name on this sister!

It is rumored that Mae herself or her relatives came from Alsas_Lorain (sp?) by the German border.

There was also an Oak Kobe who was related to Frank Kobe & Mae Kobe. Not sure what his relationship is to them at this point though.

If this sounds familiar to anyone please email me at
