According to "The Cornish in Latin America" webpage a John Knuckey was a miner for the firm Carne & Knuckey in Tocopilla.
John was born 24 May 1839 in Chenhall, Gwennap, Cornwall, son of Richard Knuckey & Mary Dunstan. He married Elizabeth Manuell Davey on 15 February 1865 at Wesley Chapel, Redruth, Cornwall.
He emigrated to Tocopilla between 1866 & 1871. His wife followed him between 1871 & 1875. I believe John died in Tocopilla. Elizabeth was a widow by 1891 when she was living back in Gwennap, Cornwall.
John's brother Joseph Knuckey also went to Tocopilla between 1871 & 1874. He died there on 31 January 1874. John's sister Sarah & her husband Philip Bray also spent time in Tocopilla.
John also had a brother William Knuckey who was born in 1831 probably in Gwennap. He is recorded in the 1841 English census with his family, but I have no record of him after that. Perhaps he also went to Tocopilla.
