My Great Grandfather homesteaded in North Dakota in the 1880's. He was William Joseph Knox, 1860-1937. His older brother John Matheson Knox, 1847-1926, homesteaded there as well and my Great Grandfather's older sister, Catherine Ann Knox, 1856-1927(m Inglee), had proved up her homestead in 1898 and sold it for $1600 and her and her two kids moved to Comox, B.C. Canada.
William Joseph knox died in Langley, B.C. - John Matheson Knox in Chilliwack, B.C . - and Catherine Ann in Whatcom County, Washington State.
All three were born in Bristol, Quebec and their parents in County Cavan Ireland.
