Barbara: I have an interesting connection between the Knowlton and Dodge family. You mentioned tht BENJAMIN'S son EZRA married Abigail Dodge in 1762. Benjamin's daughter, SUSANNA KNOWLTON (b. 1713 Wenham, Mass) - married my ancestor JOSIAH DODGE. They produced my GGGGG Grandfather ASAHEL DODGE in 1752 in Lunonbeng, Nova Scotia, along with another son, Benjamin (1754) also in Nova Scotia. You mentioned ASAHEL's cousin ERZA KNOWLTON marrying an ABIGAIL DODGE. I wonder if this was the daughter of JOSIAH DODGE and SUSANNA KNOWLTON? It was common in those days to marry a cousin by marriage since the communities were so small. I am looking for additional information on DODGE (Josiah / Prudence Fairfield) and KNOWLTON (Benjamin Sr. and his father/mother John??) The DODGE / KNOWLTON connection is very interesting. Even more interesting is Susanna's mother SUSANNA DUTCH. Her mother was SUSANNA MORE, who was the daughter of RICHARD MORE, bastard son of CATHERINE MORE (through Jacob Blakely) and her cousin SAMUEL MORE, whose marriage was arranged to secure lands for the MORE family. When SAMUEL found out that his children wer not his own (and how he found this out or didn't know, I don't know!), he arranged to have the children sent away so that they would not grow up bastardized children. Her arrange with William Brewster to take custody of the 4 children on passage to the New World on a ship named THE MAYFLOWER. CATHERINE MORE's family can be traced all the way back to the KING OF ENGLAND, WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR. King William did not aquire the throne by inheritence by by force in the BATTLE OF HASITNGS, so I am trying to find out the connection between him and his predecessor, KING EDWARD THE CONFESSOR as they were cousins. With that connection, it traces the DODGE / DUTCH line all the way back to the first King of England - EDGAR, and his grandfather EDWARD THE ELDER, who was the first recorded ruler of Wessex, which presided over all of England's regions before there were kings. Very interesting stuff. If anyone can help me with DUTCH or MORE, I would appreciate it. Brad Robbins
