My ancestor, James Absalom Knotts was born in 1746. His father was Robert Knotts, born in 1725 in Queen Anne
County, MD. Robert's wife was Esther Dawley, m. 1744.

The 1810 Census shows Absalom in Monongalia, W. Va.

Like you, I have visited "Knottsville" and the Methodist Church there.

I am sure you have most of this info from all your posts, but it seems James Absalom was born in Kent, DE where he married Sarah Blackshire. My ancestor is their son Robert Knotts born in Kent, DE in 1778 and died in Preston, W VA in 1858. He married Barbara Six. Their other children were Ursula, Thomas, Edward, Ezkeil, and Absalom.

Of course there were more children by his second wife, Nancy Myers.

I do have a list of Maryland and Delaware Revolutionary Patriots from Military Records for 1775-1783 for Kent and Queen Ann Counties Maryland that shows several Knotts. I can list those on the list if you like.

I have enjoyed all your "Knotts" posts.
