The K did not get in front of, but it was sometimes missing from Knussli or Kneisley. It happened first time before 1600 in Switzerland, and very often lateron in the U.S. Very often it was retaken some generations later. So all the Nussli and Nicely seem to belong to the Knaus tribe, with originates from southern Germany, Switzerland and western Austria. The writing Gneuss belongs here, too. I have a lot of material on the European families, and would like to share with anyone, who can make a link to someone I have in my material. Pls answer in this forum.
Leodegar.
