Knills near Plymouth

I have been searching from many years to discover the ancestry of my GGrandmother, Jane "Anne" Knill Hopkins. She was born "near Plymouth, 31 Dec 1801 (family bible) and had a brother Thomas and possibly one named John. Here is the family story as related in her son's autobiography.

She and my GGrandfather were married in Cocking, W. Sussex, England and emigrated to America in 1835.

"Jane was an orphan girl. Parents died when she was young, she was raised by her oldest brother who was very rich. He was lord of a great estate, and Jane lived with him until she was married to George. He was very angry with George for marrying Jane and would not speak to him. After Jane died, nothing more was heard from "Uncle Knill". She had another brother by the name of Thomas."
