Hello - I'm researching a maternal family line and have found quite a bit, so far . . . going back to 1579, Yarcombe, Devon, England, in case anyone else is researching a Knight family with roots in Waupaca Co., Wisconsin. A maternal g-g grandfather, Joel Knight, b. 1830, Yarcombe, Devon, England; d. 9 July 1916, Town of Farmington, Waupaca Co., Wis. and his older brother, Robert William Knight, b. 1827, Yarcombe, Devon, Eng.; d. 1869, Town of Farmington, Waupaca Co., Wis. immigrated to New York State May 1851. They obtained farm land in Waupaca Co., Wis. and in 1853 settled there. Joel and Robert William Knight's parents farmed in the Yarcombe, Devon area in England. Their father: b. 1785, probably in Yarcombe; mother: Mary Bright, b. about 1787, Yarcombe; married to each other: 7 Sep 1808, Yarcombe. It looks like they had a total of 8 children, but I can't tell if any others immigrated to the U.S. Anyway, if anyone else is interested I can give you the info on what I found on Joel and Mary Knight, their children, their parents, grandparents, etc., to back 1579 in Yarcombe, Devon, England.
