Early KNIFFIN/SNIFFIN Families of Putnam Co., N.Y.

I am seeking who the early SNIFFIN/KNIFFIN families were of what is now Putnam Co., N.Y. during the 1740-1780 period. I strongly believe my 4th ggrd father Sylvanus KELLY (b. ca. 1750) m. a person with the maiden name of SNIFFIN/KNIFFIN or that she was related to a SNIFFIN/KNIFFIN family somehow. Sylvanus had a son named Sniffin (b. 1781). Sylvanus's father may be Jonathan KELLY (b. 1721). A Samuel KNIFFIN bought Jonathan KELLY's land in 1810, which was located near Dykeman's Station (just east of Carmel, N.Y.). I am looking for the names of the early SNIFFIN/KNIFFIN names and who they married and their children names and their birthdates. Did the above Samuel Kniffin have a dau. who may have m. Sylvanus KELLY? Thanks for any help!!!! Joe
