The only non-European branch I know of for sure is the Hawaiian branch of Sniffins (I believe some of them still live in Hawaii, and some live in California). They are descendants of a sailor who married a Hawaiian woman in the 1850s, I believe.I met some of the family in 1984 or 1985 when there was an informal Kniffi/en/Sniffi/en family reunion in Westchester County, NY.What part of the country were your ancestors in?Who did they marry (white/Europeans)?It would be interesting to find out of there are any other descendants of this branch. It's probably safe to assume that there is other blood in the family, since Kniffins have been in this country for nearly 400 years. I was always told that there is Indian blood in my line, but all my research hasn't proved this "legend" and I have to assume at this point that it isn't true. But who knows what you may turn up?
