Hello there!! My name is John Robert Kneilands I was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1961. My father John kneilands and my mother Isabel immigrated to Canada in 1964 with me and my younger brother. As far as I know I have no immediate relatives in Canada. Since I have lived in Canada I have lost my whole immediate family to untimely deaths. I am the sole remaining member of the four of us. I do however have three nephews and two sons to carry on the name in Canada. I have recently tried to find out more about my family tree but come quickly to dead ends.
I Know my Grand father was John Patrick Kneilands and my Grandmother was Martha Kneilands they too have passed away when I was a very young lad. I have recently been told that my Aunt (that I had never met) was murdered by Peter Manuel 1958 ( I also understand that he was never convicted of this ) I was also told that this had a part of the reason that we moved to Canada ( My father was a hard man and he wanted some sort of vengeance for the grisly murder of his sister) I am also told that my grandfather was born in Ireland (Whereabout is still unknown to me)
If there is anyone out there that could guide me through this please contact me and it would be deeply appreciated
I would love to be able to show my sons our family history someday, show them that we do have a history and a coat of arms it seems that every time I try to get a name search it never shows anything . i wonder if there was a change in the name spelling somewhere in time.
