I now suspect Mary Jane's father was Henry Kneale, a Coastguard. Her mother was Caroline Busser. As a coastguard Henry might have come from anywhere - but is the Isle of Man a possibility? There seem to be Kneales there, and in Lancashire, in the mid 1800's
