Jesse Knauss was b. 1800 (in TN). He was my great-grandfather and was married to Mary Turnipseed who was born abt. 1820. They had 4 sons and 1 daughter:
Samuel - b. 1839 in OH- served in Civil War (m. Susannah Varner)
David - b. 1841 in OH - served in Civil war - killed at Shiloh, TN
Andrew Jackson (my grandfather) - b. 1846 in OH - served in Civil War (m. Prudence Catherine Phillips)
Nancy - b. 1855 in IA
James - b. 1858 in IA
The above information (except for James who was born 2 years later) was found in the 1856 Census of Louisa County, IA. Information found on the internet shows Jesse's birth as 1792 in OH and his death as 1840. Since all of his kids were born after that, that can't possibly be the right information. If anyone can help me straighten this out, or if you can tell me who Jesse's parents were, please e-mail me at peggykae@msn.com. I will be eternally grateful.
