Property 15a 154p in Upper Milford adjoining Joseph Clewell, Martin Leibert, Andrew Gieing, George Christ. History; 1) 25 May 1765, patent to Philip Kratzer and Frederick Kratzer and wife Mary Ann. 2) 27 June 1765 Kratzer granted 61 acres to Sebastian Knauss (now deceased). 3) 24 Feb 1777, Sebastian Knauss wrote his will; gave his exrs, Henry Knauss and Andrew Giering power to sell his property. 4) 17 Aug 1786 the exrs. sold the tract to Jacob Knauss. Wits. Johannes Romig and Abraham Ziegler. Deed, 17 Aug 1786 for 286pds/ Grantors Henry Knauus and Andrew Geering (Gering) both of Salisbury, exrs. Grantee, Jacob Knauss, Salisbury Twp. Property; stone messuage and lot in Emaus, Salisbury twp, where Sebastian Knauss lived.. 2) 86 acres 118 perches, in 4 contiguous tracts in Upper Milford, adjoining Michael Knauss, land of the late George Hammer (also to be granted to Jacob Knauss) land of the late John Adam Shoemaker, land of the late Peter Miller, Andrew Geering, Village of Emau, land late of Philip Kratzer (Knauss's mother was allowed in use orchard) 2. Sebastian Knauss wrote his will, left his son Jacob Knauss two plantation which were valued at 286 pds (one plantation was where Sebastian had lived); Sebastian name ad exrs his wife Anna Catharine, son Henry Knauss and friendd Andrew Geering. Knauss,Benjamin of Lehigh Co, was born Dec 13, 1828, s/o Benjamin and Marie (Helfrich) Knauss who were also born in Lehigh Co. The paternal grandfather, bore the name George. The father of Benjamin died when he 7m old, he was reared by his mother who died Jan 3, 1894. Benjamin F., married Sarah Steininger, Oct 21, 1866. Mrs. Knauss was born Dec 3, 1835, d/o Leonard and Catharine (Kuntz) Steininger, where the former died in 1874. Her parents rearded a family of 6 children, of whom those living are; Anna, w/o Charles Mohr, Mary, Sarah, (Mrs. Knauss), Elisa w/o William Koch, and Lucretia, w/o Tilghman Gramms. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Knauss, Elemanda, w/o Edward Lichtenwalner, Tilghman G., Sarah Isabelle and Frank. Members of St. Paul's Church of Allentwon. Knauss,Milton W., of Bethlehem, was born Feb 26, 1866. His paternal grandfather, John Knauss, a native of Emaus. R.F. Knauss the father of Milton W.,. In Dec, 1892 departed life age near 62. His wife was Anna M., d/o Daniel Fogle. Mrs. Knauss, who was born in Hanover Twp., Northampton Co., is a member of the Reformed Church. In the family are 5 children, M.W. Knauss, is next to the eldest. In the year 1891 Milton W., married Carrie Kerschner, who was born near Allentown. They had a daughter, Stella. Schaadt, Monroe, of S. Whitehall. He was born in N. Whitehall, March 8, 1834, s/o Henry and Magd. (Knauss) Schaad. His grandfather, John Schaad, was also born in the twp., while his father, John Schaadt came from Germany. The parents of Monroe came to S. Whitehall in 1834. The father died in 1869 and the wife March 1, 1886. children; William, Hattie, widow of John Troxell, Polly, widow of Alfred Balliet, Monroe, Eliza, w/o Reuben Kemerer, John J., and Anne, w/o Solomon Ruch. deceased children, Benjamin H., Christian and three who died in infancy. Monroe Schaadt was married to Catharine Butz, on Sept 19, 1857. She is the d/o Samuel and Catharine (Lentz0 Butz, the former of whom is deceased. Peter Butz. Sr., the great-grandather of Mrs. Schaad, came from Germany, located in Berks Co. Later his son Peter moved to Lehigh County. Mrs. Schaadt was one of a family of 5 children, of whom those surviving besided herselft are; Louisa widow of Jeremiah Kuhns and Peter. After her 1st husbands death Mrs. Butz married Daniel Kuhns and they had a son, Walter M. Of the 12 children born to our subject, Monroe and his wife are all living with 2 execptions are, Samuel B., Ida, w/o John H. Strauss, Walter B., Milton M., B.M., Preston B., Alfred P.B., Lloyd H.
