According to church records of the Jordan Reformed Church, South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, George Rex (Ruger) married Anna Margaretha Knauss on Aug. 24, 1742 and there is ample evidence that they had about eight children from about 1743 to about 1764. Records from St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania also have Anna Margaretha Knauss, daughter of Ludwig, marrying George Michael, June 14, 1753. There is no record of any issue. The problem is, who are these two women. They cannot be the same Anna Margaretha Knauss, daughter of Ludwig so which is really the daughter? Johann Ludwig Knauss died about 1746 leaving a widow, Anna Margaretha (Görlach) Knauss and several young children. Is it possible that the Widow, Anna Margaretha Knauss married George Michael in 1753 to provide a home for her children? While the St. Paul's church records specifically state that the Anna Margaretha that married George Michael was a daughter of Ludwig Knauss, the translation may be in error and should have said "widow of Ludwig Knauss", or the entry was written wrong in the benining. Does anyone have any evidence about which of these two women was actually the daughter of Johann Ludwig Knauss and who the second woman might have been? I have been through both the James Owen Knauss and the Wilbur Lewis King books and feel the question is not adequately answered. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
