Hello Sue;
I'm sorry to say, as of right now I don't have much on the Knauf/Knauff line at all & what I do have I'm not 100%sure that its correct.My first incounter with the name is with my grt, grt grandmother - Margaret Knauf(f), she married and James Martin.Margarets parents, I'm told were Michael Knauf(f) and Eliza McGill.Some records indicate that he was from PA & other from Prussia/Germany.The name seems to appear in 1850 census in Middlesex township of Butler, spelling, Micel Knouf age 33 and from Germany.1860 census states place of birth, Pa and in 1870 it says Germany again.From what I can gathers, Michael & Eliza Knauf(f) had the following children:
1. Mary E.
2. Amelda
3. Ellen
4. Matilda Agnes
5. Barbara
6. Arthur McGill
7. John H.
8. Michael Francis
9. Thomas H.
?. Margaret, my great great grandmother
I don't think this is of much help.I will keep your message and if I come across anyone matching your family I will be happy to send the info your way.
Good luck !
Sue
