Lazarus Knepp (probably, rather than Knepp)enlisted in Gen. Taylor's 2nd Dragoons in Mar 1845.He lost his left leg in the Battle at Palo Alto May 8, 1846 and was Discharged in Sept 1846 at Ft. Polk, TX.He married Eliza Plaidwell Wells (a widow with 1 living child) about 1848, and they had 3 children together: a son who died young and 2 daughters. He is found in the 1850 census in Colon, St. Joseph Co., MI, a grocer. I believe his father is John Frederick Knepp, b. 1801, and I find a Frederick Knepp in the 1830 census in Decatur, Mifflin, PA.Can someone tell me if he also appears in the 1840 census? In 1830, there were daughters less than 5 and 1 son, age 5-9 (Lazarus, I think).Thanks.
