Census records list Charles Seymore Knapp, as being from New York.My records show that he was born 4 June, 1824.He died 7 Dec., 1904.He was one of the first teachers in Garden Plain, abt. 1843. (Bent - Wilson, History of Whiteside, Co. 1877).His wife, Henrietta Armstrong, b. 17 March, 1828, Pa.Her father was William Armstrong, b. 5 Jan., 1784, d. 2 Oct., 1835, likley in Pa.Williams wife, Barbara Pittman, and family came to Whiteside,1848/49, by wagon, and I presume the oldest son David was the one bringing the family.David Armstrong died in Denver,Colorado, 24 Nov., 1885. William Armstrong and Barbara Pittman were married 1 Oct., 1818 in Bedford, (Fulton) Co., Pa.My records show that Barbara was born, 3 July, 1793 in Ayr Twp. Fulton Co., Pa., and died here in Whiteside Co., 4 October, 1868.
