Dear Geof,
I think I have your man. Lebbeus Knapp was born 21 June 1754 in Horseneck, Connecticut. (Now Grenwich in Fairfield County.) Lebbeus married Rachel Storms of Hopewell Center, NY. They settled in Haverstraw NY before the Revolution. They had seven children. Two of their children were William and Robert who were twins born in Haverstraw in February 1793.
Robert married Sarah Phillips, daughter of Daniel Phillips and William married Mary Gross, daughter of Peter Gross.
William and Mary had four children. Catherine who married Robert Stammers. Elizabeth who married Hiram Phillips. Mary who married 1 - Hedges and 2. Samuel Edwards. And Nelson who married Sarah Peterson.
I have no death dates for any of the family. They were probably members of the First Presbyterian Church of Haverstraw as that was the church of Lebbeus and Rachel.
Lebbeus was in the Revolutionary War so if you are a grandson you are eligible for the SAR if you are interested. Lebbeus is listed in the DAR Patriot Index.
This information came from Cole's History of Rockland County published in 1884.
