I appreciate your detailed information. I'm working on connecting my own Kluck connection to the General.

Here is what I have on one WI Kluck clan.

My grandmother, Bernice Mayme (Kluck) Hanson was the daughter of Joseph A Kluck of MN/ND area. Joseph was the son of Frederich Kluck (b 1854 in Holstein, Germany) and Anna Marie (Feiten) Kluck (b in WI). Frederich was the son of Mathias Matthew Kluck (b 1823 in Germany).

The best I can gather so far, Mathias and his family were located in the general vacinity of Muenster which is the place of birth give for Alexander von Kluck. I haven't yet found a common ancestor, so I'm not sure to what degree they are related, but I'm sure they are cousins of some sort.

Also, the military histories indicate that Alexander was raised to the nobility and given the "von" in his name as a result of his military service. Previous generations (and other parallel lines) will all be simply "Kluck".

Hope that helps some. If Muenster is the correct city for the General's birth, then it is on the other side of Germany from Poland. I suspect that he is not immediately linked to any Polish family. The region in which he grew up is probably better identified as Westphalia rather than Prussia.
