Hans Juergen--
I believe I am a relative of yours. I have in my possession the family Bible of my great-great-great grandfather and grandmother, Jakob Friederich Bartenschlag and Christiana Margaretha Klink. (When they came to America, people called them Fred and Christina.) He was born 3 Jan 1830, and she was born 29 Mar 1823. They came to America in 1856, arriving in the port of New York on June 1, 1856.

When I found the ship's passenger list, it showed her place of birth as Oberriexingen. Since then, I have borrowed the microfilms of the old churchbooks from Oberriexingen and have found her parents to be Johann Georg Klink and Anna Margaretha Schneider. Are you descended from Christiana's brother Konrad Jakob Klink?

I am sure you wonder what happened to Christiana's family in America. Christiana's daughters did come to America too. The older girl, Christina, survived the journey and grew to adulthood. The younger girl, Louisa, died on the boat and was buried at sea. After Fred and Christina landed, they lived in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania for two years until Fred was in an accident in the steel mill where he worked. They then moved out to Monroe County, Ohio, where they farmed and had two more children: first, my great-great grandfather Philipp Friederich Bartenschlag (Fred junior) and then, Maria Catharina Bartenschlag (aunt Mary). I have a picture of Fred and Christina. I think they look like happy people.

Aunt Christina married Michael Smith and had 5 children. Fred jr. married Elizabeth Yockey and had 5 children, 4 of whom lived to adulthood, including my great-grandmother, Emma Lucinda Bartenschlag. Aunt Mary married Dave Weber and had 2 children. I can give you additional names and dates if you are interested.

I also traced back the ancestors of Johann Georg Klink and Anna Margaretha Schneider in the Oberriexingen churchbooks: the parents of Johann Georg Klink were Johannes Klink (the son of Johannes Klink of Heimerdingen) and Anna Maria Schneider (the daughter of Hans Joerg Schneider of Oberriexingen). The parents of Anna Margaretha Schneider were Gottfried Schneider (the son of Martin Schneider of Oberriexingen) and Margaretha Boehmler (the daughter of Johann Michael Boemler of Eltingen). I also borrowed the microfilms of the Eltingen churchbooks. I have the names of the ancestors from Oberriexingen for about 6 generations from Johann Georg Klink, because the Oberriexingen churchbooks go back to 1727 (marriages and deaths) and 1680 (births), and I have the names of the ancestors from Eltingen for about 10 generations starting with Margaretha Boehmler, because the Eltingen books go back to 1551. If you would like to see the tree, let me know!

I realize it has been a while since you posted your message, but I just found it today!
