Hi Nora,

Sorry we're not long lost cousins but maybe we can get adopted! and "bored" - never! - the detail you were able to add is what makes family history so pleasurable. My wife and I were dragged kicking and screaming into family history about five years ago in response to a letter from Canada which started 'You don't know me but..'.

Judy and I live in the North East of England [about twelve miles north east of Newcastle upon Tyne]. My father's family are all from Banff [Portsoy, Whitehills, Fordyce, Deskford], my mother's people are a mix of Irish and west highlands while Judy's family are from Sussex and Suffolk in the south of England.

Our family name interests in Banff are Watson [my name] and Kemp but I find it very frustrating because so many Watsons married Watsons and not only that, George Watsons married Jane Watsons and had children called George and Jane and their brothers and sisters had children called George and Jane all at the same time in the same churches in the same villages and with the same occupations!!

Sanity never was my speciality.

We will be spending the next few weeks planning our trip - we've got to put together a package of family history material for the "long lost cousins" in Brockville - and we plan to look around the rest of Ontario, the Lakes, the Falls etc. Looking forward to it.

Oh, yes, the information about Julius' graduation etc we got from the Aberdeen and NE Scotland Family History Society at King Street Aberdeen and we are members there - very useful and helpful - they are about as crazy as the rest of us!

Keep in touch and if there is anything we can do on our next trip to Banff/Portsoy - just ask!

Colin & Judy Watson
