Klingels from Wittenberg, Germany

I have traced my gg grandfather, John Martin KLINGEL to Wittenberg, Germany. John Martin was born circa 1860. He departed Europe from Rotterdam, Netherlands and arrived at New York in 1880. In 1884, he shows up in Fort Wayne, IN.

His mother Eva Barbara KLINGEL (presumably also from Wittenberg) also lived in Fort Wayne, although have had no luck finding record of her passage. I believe her maiden name was KLINGEL as her death certificate lists her father as being John KLINGEL!!! Could she have married a cousin, had an out-of-wedlock child? I'd love to solve this mystery.
