I have been researching Albany families:
In Warren Ziegler's compendium of New Bethel ChurchRecords, Albany Twp, K8,there is this:
Cornelius Klingman, husb of Catharine Stapleton, they migrated north of the Blue Mountain.
andCatharine (nee Stapleton) wife of Cornelius Klingman.
I don't have the Stapleton pages of the Compendium to prove that Catharine was a dau of Tobias! It is noticed that his will does not mention her.
Will Abstract of Tobias Stapleton:
Will of Tobias Stebelton dated 14 July 1801 lists only five (5) children. Living sons Johannes and Robert, and a deceased son Jacob; and the wives of Simon Wertman and Jacob Dries. It is believed that Anna Barbara was the wife of Simon Wertman, and Magdelena was the wife of Jacob Dries(Friess). It appears that his wife Anna Barbara had died prior to 1801 as she was not mentioned in his will; as well as the wife of Jacob Dries, as her share was left to her children.
Caveat filed by 4/6/1805 by Benjamin LONG, married to one of the heirs.
Will Abstrascts, Berks Co Wills:
Berks Co Will abstracts shows:
Tobias Stebelton, Albany
Will 7/14/1801, proved 4/6/1805
8/9/1805 by verdict of jury.
To son Johannes and Robert, all my real estate in equal shares except the land over Blue Mountains, that shall be the property of my son Robert. To the children of Simon Wertman, 110 pds.
To the children of Jacob Dries, 100 pds.
Remainder to the children which are left of Johannes, Robert, Simon Wertman, Jacob Stebelton and Jacob Dries.
To Johannes' son, Jacob, my gun and to his dau., Barbara, my bed.
Execs: Simon Wertman and son Robert.
Wits: John Adam Gruetz and Jacob Kummerer.
Caveat filed by Benjamin Long married to one of the heirs.
Translation.
Tobias Stapleton, Albany, 4/2/1805
Adm to Robert, son and Simon Wertman, son-in-law
8/9/1805 will established by verdict of jury.
After Tobias died in July 1805 his will was filed, but was contested because it was not written in English. The will was translated from German to English and refiled on August 9, 1805; and the Executors were named 10 August 1805, Robert Stapleton and Simon Wertman.
Also in the Compendium is this:
Cornelius and Catharine (nee Stapleton) had son John b 1765 who m 1)Elisabeth and then 2) Sarah Pegg of Stark Co., OH; died 1851 in Seneca Co OH.
