Hello, this message is from Doug Kline, the son of the late John and Janette Kline of Cleveland, OH, and the grandson of Frank Kline of Ft. Madison, IA (later Kissimmee, FL).
I have been living in Berlin, Germany for about a year and was interested in finding out more about the Kline family roots here. (Having this family name in Germany is a double-edged sword: people recognize it immediately, but nobody can spell it correctly.)
Before they passed away, my parents gave me a copy of a family history of David Miller Kline Senior, assembled by Frank Boyd Baldwin of Peoria, IL in 1968. It says that Christian Kleyn came from Berndorf and Hamburg to America. There are several Berndorfs in Germany. I plan on seeing if I can get any more information on the Kleyn family origins here in Germany. If I find anything I will certainly send it to whomever is interested.
If there is any way I might be of help here on the ground in Germany, please let me know.
