Klem, Klim, Klinkeviticz, Klimkevicius - Lithuania

I found a gold mine of info on these families on the "Klimson Family Tree" posted on Rootsweb - pure serendipity! After arriving in this country sometimes brothers would have 3 different last names. They settled in Pennsylvania and I think someone went to Mass. There were names like Gabriel, Felix, Joseph.. etc.

The woman who gathered the family infor for this tree made more than one trip back there (starting 30+ years ago) and hired an interpreter. One of her sources of information was a relative who died last year. This relative happened to be the same one my "uncle" visited 30 years ago.

Never thought I'd get so far back. And my grandmother(born 1880's) said the name originated from Clemenceau, a soldier in Napoleon's army, who married in Lithuania.

The Ellis Island records have these people but it takes some persistence to find them because of all the variant spellings.
