There was a Klee building in Dayton (no longer standing) and John owned a mineral water company.

John Klee & Son are the successors to John Klee, who began whe manufacture of mineral water in 1860. His son, John Klee, Jr., was admitted to partnership in 1887, and the firm became as at present. They are located at the corner of First and Canal streets, and employ about ten men. (from 1889 History of Dayton, Ohio).
