Harriet & Helen Kittredge, Mass. 1800's
These two sisters, born about 1814 and 1820, were the children of Jacob Kittredge (b. 1781) and Harriet Pierce (b. about 1790). Harriet married (Dr.) Jacob Kittredge in Salem Mass. on Nov. 17, 1813 and at some point Daniel and the Kittredges moved to Gallipolis, Ohio.In 1824, both of the Kittredges died very suddenly, as did at least one child, probably of Yellow Fever. The surviving children were sent back to Massachusetts, possiblity into the care of (Capt) William Richardson.
Their mother's father was (Capt) Daniel Pierce. He was born before 1775 and also had a daughter Eliza born about 1795.Eliza married Richard Gardner after 1815.(See:Descendants of Thomas Gardner of Salem, MAfor his complete line.He is generation 6, # 200).She was still in Salem in 1850 (census).
I think Daniel survived and stayed in Ohio but have been unable find him.
Does anyone have any other information on what happen to the sisters after they returned to Mass.Who was Capt. Richardson?Did they live with him?Harriet married in 1839 but what happened to Helen?
