"I am very interested in Kittrell line - my great-great-great-grandmother was Dora (Dicy) Kittrell who married Joseph Rogers, Jr., in North Carolina." Dicey Kittrell (I never heard her called Dora) was my great-great-great-great grandmother. I have that the family name was originally Catherall. Dutton Catherall is the father of Jonathan Kittrell (1682-1748)who was the father of Jonathan Kittrell II, who was the father of Samuel (b.1728 in Bertie Co. NC - d.1808 in Granville, NC) who was Dicey's father. My information shows that Samuel married Catherine Bryant, and purchased land in Granville about 1761. He was later granted land by Lord Granville. He had 6 chldren, Catherine, John, Samuel, Dicey, Winna and Penny. There are some sources that say Dicey married Joseph Rogers Jr, and some that say the Joseph Rogers' father was named John. In any case, Joseph Rogers was born about 1776 and died about 1829. They had 8 children (Samuel, John, Jonathan, Martha, Rachel, Sarah Leah, Nancy and Willis. Samuel Rogers married Sarah L. Rolfe (daughter of William Rolfe) and they had 2 children - Major Andrew J Rogers and Annie Eliza Rogers. Annie married Benjamin Franklin Harris. She was my mother's great grandmother, and I have her picture.
