George Kitto was married first to Susannah Pearce
and had two children. By 1860 only Jane chr 1848 in England
was living. George then married Elizabeth Wicks and had
three children, Elizabeth, Sophia, and Mary.
On the 7 Sept 1860, while returning from seeing husband
and maybe the Lincoln-Douglas debate, Elizabeth with three
children along with her sister, Eliza Bond and two children,
were drowned on the "Lady Elgin". Which one of George
Kitto's children survived? ( I have had it in my mind that
all died, but the ship listed that she had three children
with her. ) Was it her 12 year old step daughter?
