Here is what I recently found in researching these Brientnalls:
1. Abraham and Mary (PETERS) Kite. Mary Peters is daughter to Thomas Peters, Sr. Abraham and Mary's marriage was witnessed by John and Mary Inskeep. Abraham and Mary's son, Thomas Kite m. 1742, Mary Brientnall(dau. of John Brientnall and Susannah Shoemaker.
2. William Peters(brother of Sec. Richard Peters of PA) m. Mary Brientnall(daughter of Joseph Brientnall and Esther Parker)

The dillema that I have is that Mary Brientnall married William Peters January 30, 1744.
This per "Richard Peters - Provincial Secretary and Cleric". p.88 : "....Richard Peters could look more tolerantly on his two-year old American Nephew William, and uncles affections turned warm to the three-month old Richard, Jr., legitimized by the ceremony January 30, 1744, and the christening of the same day, named for his fathers brother."
Further, in a book, "Richard Peters, his Ancestors and Descendents", by Nellie Peters Black, p. 131-133, it shows Susannah Shoemakeker m. John Brientnall as the parents of Mary Brientnall that married William Peters. On page 132, it speaks of a Miss Mary Andrews that leaves in her will something for the following: Mary and William Peters(calling her her neice -"I being her great Aunt") ; George Brientnall(her nephew) ; and other neices(James, Esther, and Ann). In addition she leaves William Peters and his wife a tankard marked "E.A." which belonged to Sir Edmund Andrews(Andres) former Governor of New York.
After finding the complete will abstract of Mary Andrews, it all fell into place on her connection to Mary Brientnall(wife of William Peters). She was the Great Aunt of Mary Brientnall.
