Does anyone know why Margaret Kitchen, born in Pulaski Co, KY in 1817 (from a family of 8) who removed to Missouri in 1831 - why did she raise two children MARY JANE DEWEESE and JOHN SALTSMAN. Margaret never married. Mary Jane was born 1840 in Missouri, so she was about 9 when she moved in with Margaret. Margaret lived with her brother, Elias, until his death in 1862; she dying in 1903.
