Thanks so much to Fran Willis and Donald Kitchell for your response. To Donald: I have all the info on Nancy Gill and her whole family, which is extensive. Nancy was from a Scots-Irish "staunch Presbyterian" background (Hill Billy) while James was from Puritan to Presbyterian with roots in English Royalty. That these two people found each other in a small town of Illinois in 1821 says what America is all about. Between them they had four grandfathers who were in the Revolution. Her father, Capt Thomas Gill fought in several battles against Banestre Tarleton in the Chester Camden District of South Carolina in May 1780 to Dec 1781.

Tarleton later said these people where the hardest fighting of all the colonist's in America. Many historians give them the credit for turning the tide.

I would love to correspond with everyone benorken@yahoo.com

I am 72 and ave just learned all about the family since April 2006.

I have a photo of Hannah Kitchell Steele if anyone would like a copy.
