According to my father, Joe W. Kish (some of this may be mythology), my Grandfather, Jon Kiss (later Kish) fled Debreczen, Hungary during the outbreak of WWI. He had an indirect part in the assassination of the Archduke. His brothers also had to flee and some were well off. When they arrived in the US (ca 1914) the brothers families would have nothing to do with the Jon Kishes. Jon's wife was a Hassenbagovich who remarried after Jon died on a utility pole in the 20's. They spoke German.
My father, Joe W. Kish was one of twins. His brother died in WWII as a Navy frogman (shark bite). Both were in the Dodger farm system before WWII in the III (3 eye) league. Joe served on the carrier Suwanee and earned seven Purple Hearts. He was recommended for the CMH and received the Navy Cross.
I am a minister in Tucson, AZ.
Can anyone elaborate on the history of Jon Kish? E-me. Thanks.
