Where was David Kise (1777) born?

Can anyone tell me where David Kise b. 1777, and husband of Rebecca Comstock came from originally? He and his wife would be my granddaughter's 5th gr-grandparents. Her line reads: David Kise b. 1777, son Commodore Chancey Kise b. 1816, son Thomas B. Kise b. 1843, son (twin) Commodore Chancey Kise b. 1870/71, son Ulysses S. Kise b. 1875, son Posey Kise, son Larry Keith Kise b. 1947, and then her mother b. 1964. Does anyone know what other state this Kise line may have originated in before coming to Lawrence Co., Kentucky? What nationality were they?..
Thank you for reading. Sandy
