Elijah James (E. J.) Kirtley was the son of William Kirtley and Elizabeth Vance. William (b. 1820-25) was the son of Elijah Kirtley and Catherine --?--. Elijah (b. ca. 1797) was the son of John Kirtley and Agatha Christy. John (b. ca. 1770-72, d. ca. 1840-50) was the son of Elijah Kirtley and Frances Buford. Elijah (b. say 1745-50, d. ca. 1795-96) was the son of William Kirtley and Sarah Early, and William was the son of Francis Kirtley of Culpeper Co., Va.
