Yes, I've always been amused by the "Sir" address for Francis Kirtley. I'd love to see some proof of that, but so far I have not. The same goes for the Wales origin. It seems like once something gets into print, it is accepted without question. (The country of origin would be fairly easy to determine if we could get a DNA sample from a male descendant of Francis Kirtley, since we already have one from a Kirkley man whose line remained in Durham/Northumberland Counties in England. If they match closely, that'll put the Wales origin to bed.)

I'd love to see what Dorothy (Thomas's 2nd wife) looked like. She was a stepmother of my 4th-great-grandmother Margaret Kirtley (#27 in my Kirtley database), who married William Head.
