Origin of Name

I am trying to find out the origin of the surname Kirla. I cannot find it on the internet. I have seen the name is common in Scotland and throughout Scandinavia. I know that some Scandinavian culture was spread to Scotland, but I don't know if that is the case with this name. I cannot find a meaning for the name either. I would be grateful if you could let me know. Thank you! Karen
