Greetings Glen,
It is my hope that you are still receiving emails and following this post.My name is Tom Caulley, age 62.I live in Florida, USA and am a Kirkpatrick descendant.A group of us are trying to reach your Uncle Ivone Elliot Kirkpatrick in hopes of convincing him to take a Y-DNA test. (You or your uncle or father could take the test as long it's an unbroken male-to-male Kirkpatrick line).Y-DNA patterns are passed down, unchanged, from father to son--for centuries.
You can read about the test and what it does at
http://ldna.ancestry.com/learnMorePaternal.aspxhttp://ldna.ancestry.com/learnMorePaternal.aspx or
http://www.familytreedna.com/y-dna-compare.aspxhttp://www.familytreedna.com/y-dna-compare.aspx -The test only counts repeating markers then at specific locations on the Y Chromosome which can then be compared to others who were tested, either proving or refuting a familial connection.
Since your line it the longest confirmed Kirkpatrick male line this test would give all current and future Kirkpatrick researchers a baseline, so to speak, for us to use in comparison. In other words, it would be invaluable to all researching the Kirkpatrick family since DNA is the ONLY proven scientific documentation and is the future of genealogical research.

Thank you.
