KIRKPATRICK - GUTHRIE - - what is FAMILY CONNECTION here in Penn and Oh ?

Greetings all:

I am trying DESPERATELY to figure out the apparent "Kirkpatrick/ Guthrie" connection. My ancestor, Robert Guthrie (ie: "Guttery", "Gutry". etc.) b. 1752, married Jane Caldwell, and I know lived in Washington County, Penn in 1781. Later, moved to Harrison County, Ohio. The Kirkpatrick family was there at both locations, too.

They had 16 children - - and two Kirkpatrick sons and a Kirkpatrick daughter married into Robert Guthrie's family.

I heard that Hugh Kirkpatrick, Sr, a Revolutionary War soldier was the father to all these Kirkpatrick children. He apparently hailed from either Cecil County, Maryland or Broome's Bloom Plantation, in Baltimore County, Maryland.

There is SOMETHING to this association between the Guthrie's and Kirkpatrick's.

(BTW - Robert Guthrie's parents were NOT James Guthrie and Miss Bussell)

At any rate...we know Clans of families often travelled together. Just wondering if anyone might know of the association between these two families in, perhaps, the early to mid 1700's in Pennsylvania - and later into Harrison and Richland County, Ohio ?

Thanks !

Steve Guthrie
