I have just found a transcription of a letter written in 1962 by Walter Kirkpatrick Walters from West Concord,Mass. to the rector of Ramoan, the parish in which Ballycastle is situated. It gives most of the same details that Steaphan Kirkpatrick gives re his Ballycastle forbears, but addsa few points. For instance, he says that the Boyd ancestor was from a place which is hard to read but looks like Corbelly (It could be Culkenny). William the harnessmaker in Dublin had a son Daniel, the same age as Walter's mother. Walter's mother was three when Andrew K. died and 9 when her mother died. Her sister Kate died as a child.
Enclosed with the letter was a transcription of Andrew's gravetone in Ramoan; Andrew K. of Culkenny d. 24 Jan. 1874, aged 59, his wife Ann d. 12 Dec. 1878 aged 53, son John d. 1 March 1863 aged 2.
Another letter says that his mother's cousin James McNeill was the sexton in Ramoan
