Mary--Sallie Ann Miller is my maternal grandmother. Her father, James D. Miller, was the son of James L. Miller and his wife Ann (possibly Cynthia Ann) Kirkpatrick. Sallie was born in Indian Territory, and is listed in various census records as being born in IT, AR, and TX. Here's the record as I have it so far:

1. Sallie Ann Miller, born December 14, 1888 in Davis, Indian Territory, OK; died August 27, 1973 in Burbank, Los Angeles, CA. She was the daughter of 2. James D. Miller, Sr. and 3. Kate M. Unknown. She married Elmore Morris Johnson October 03, 1908 in Wynnewood, Garvin, OK. He was born February 15, 1884 in Haydenburg, Jackson, TN, and died June 08, 1971 in Burbank, Los Angeles, CA. He was the son of Jacob Benjamin Lafayette Johnson and Leatha Melinda Green.

Information gathered: 1900 census in Garvin County, Oklahoma, shows family of James D. Miller, wife Kate, children Sallie, Anna & Josie, widowed mother Centhia Knight and brother Edward. James shows birth in GA, and both parents from GA. His family moved to Georgia when he was young, and he probably didn't know about SC. Kate shows TX for all three. Children shown born in Indian Territory. Centhia shows GA for all three. Interview with James ~1930 indicates he came to Indian Territory with his wife in 1888. He names Anna Kirkpatrick as his mother and J.L Miller as his father.
