Obit: Mabel (Kirkpatrick) Folsom Lovejoy b.1907 Portage, ME
Mabel Kirkpatrick Folsom Lovejoy, 97, of North Port, Fla., died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Quality Health Care in North Port.
She was born Oct. 23, 1907, in Portage, Maine, and was the daughter of Francis A. and Laura M. (Lewin) Kirkpatrick.
Mrs. Lovejoy graduated from the University of Maine in 1928 and earned a master's degree in 1976 from the University of Maine. She worked for many years for the U.S. Extension Service as a home economist. She was an active alumni member of Phi Mu Sorority and was awarded the prestigious Black Bear Award for outstanding service to the University of Maine. Mrs. Lovejoy spent her life in Maine until moving to Florida several years ago.
Mrs. Lovejoy is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth C. Lovejoy of North Port; her daughters-in-law, Joy B. Folsom and Mary Beth Folsom, both of Connecticut; her grandchildren, Steven (Pamela) Folsom of Barnt Green, England, Harold (Elena) Folsom of Simsbury, Conn., and Elizabeth Folsom (Robert) Ferris of Annapolis, Md.; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold S. Folsom; and her sons, H. Sidney Folsom and Glenn R. Folsom.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the North Port Chapel of Farley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maine at the convenience of the family.
