Boy that got me excited, since Betsy KIRKPATRICK is
my 4th great grandmother! But this is clearly incorrect.
The Patrick HENRY family has been thorougly researched
and the sons of VA governer Patrick HENRY (of "give
me liberty ..." speach fame) by his first marriage were
all born during the 1757 - 1771 time period. So it is
rather difficult for Patrick HENRY to be the grandfather to
this Robert Newton HENRY. The praternal grandsons of
hero Patrick HENRY are also known, and none of them is of the right age to be this Robert Newton HENRY.
Furthermore the family of Robert Newton HENRY, who
married Betsy KIRKPATRICK, is also well documented. As
you can see on online, Genealogical and personal history of the Allegheny Valley, Pennsylvania; under the editorial supervision of John W. Jordan. Vol. 2, New York, Lewis Historical Pub. Co., 1913. pages 558 - 589 and pages 718 - 719 at the Historic Pittsburgh project WWW site (http://digital.library.pitt.edu/) describes this family. Robert Newton HENRY who married Elizabeth ?gBetsy?h KIRKPATRICK was the son of William HENRY of Scotland / Westmoreland Co. PA / Clarion Co. PA. And this William
HENRY (b. Scotland) was the son of Robert HENRY "a native
of Scotland", not Patrick HENRY of Revolutionary War
fame who was born in VA.
--- Steve Johnston, who was at first excited to find
a connection with hero Patrick HENRY, then disappointed to find it untrue, then interested to find the link to the Scotland HENRY family.
