The standard history of the K's goes back to at least 1141 in Dumfrieshire, and perhaps earlies.The 1141 charter was from Roert Brus (I) of Annandale.Five or six generations later, (Sir) Roger finished off Red Comyn at the beheast of Roberet the Bruce, thereby earning a "Sir' and a crest - but no tartan, the whole lot were lowlanders.....
Being descended from younger sons of younger sons,I have a limited view of those who stayed... can provide it if wanted, but no Orkneys connection.(My son went to the O's in '96, and loved the scenery, if not the prospect of making a living there.)
