John Edward Kirkham's mother was Cynthia L. Kirkham (Hyde) her father was George Hyde. I find them listed in the census records for the Leach Lake band. when I went to the tribe to apply knew that my records were correct they wanted to know about the allotments at the time I did not have that information. I went to the courthouse and looked up George Hyde death record on that record was listed his parents. I looked his parents information and found their land allotments. everything that I needed to establish my heritage great. when I asked for copies of these records I was told that I could not get the records because they are distant ancestors and not in my immediate family according to the laws of MN. so I hand copied the information and took it back to the tribe the enrollment department would not accept the hand written copies. they said I could get them through the BIA with a FOIA. so I have written many of them and have not had any success with FOIA'S. the missing records are in the courthouse but they have me in a catch 22 situation that I can't seem to figure out.
