Janice, you said that John Kirk b. 1755 (wife Rebecca) was born in Montgomery Co.I believe that he was born in Fauquier County as there are lots of references to Thomas Sr. and Thomas Jr. there as late as 1779.Thomas Jr. was a brother of your John and there is a Rev War pension appl. that places him in Fauquier troops, etc.Note alsoFauquier County Court Records, 1776-1782:
1776 May 27.Report of those appointed to view the road petitioned for by Joseph Oder, returned. "from Joseph Oders to the Main Road at the Red Oak leading between William Butlers cornfield and Thomas Kirk Junr. Cornfield so up the ridge to Stantons Mill Path, so along the Mill Path, thro' the lower Corner of Stafford John James Land, being the Conveniontest and best ay for his markett way."
1776 Oct. 29.Held for "laying the County Levy", in pounds of tobacco.List includes
